What is Running Season?
Twice a year event screenings of Running in High Heels take
place around the country. Planned as special events or benefits and carried out by college and university programs and women's political groups, they typically take place in the fall during the run-up to
Election Day (from Labor Day until Election Day) and again in the spring during Women's History
Month (March).
Fall events are usually designed to rally women to vote, support women running for office, and educate women about the benefits of voting for female candidates. For women, all politics are personal and fall is a great time to discuss the political lives of women!
Spring
events celebrate Women's History Month and what women have accomplished. The plans for
these events include a focus on the evolution and current state of women's public
voices as well as what the future holds.
All events feature a screening of Running in High Heels and donate their proceeds to local organizations that work to empower women in leadership, aid women running for office, or promote women's education and scholarship. 52 Women will waive public performance rights/fees by issuing you a one-time public performance license agreement for your benefit screening.
This
past year, there were over 50 screening events - that's enough for one
per state! - and with the first truly viable woman candidate running
for the Oval Office in all of history, we are hoping to see that amount
drastically rise during 2008.
To organize a Running screening event, you must purchase the DVD and sign up with us via our contact page. You will then be given a password to access our screening kit which includes art files and a promotions guide and you'll be on your way.
It’s
that easy!
