Production Notes & Miscellany
- Often during filming, people would explain to Maryann: “Republicans like people but hate humanity. Democrats love humanity but hate people. “
- This film was made for less than $10,000.
- Maryann Breschard votes but is not registered with any political party. Her father once ran for office as a Conservative. Her mother is a Democrat.
- In September 2004, Maryann was a guest at a conference organized by Eve Ensler called “Women & Power”. At one point druing the conference, there were two sessions going on concurrently. One was called, “the Good Body” (named after Eve’s latest play) and had people such as Jane Fonda on the panel. The other was “Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World” and had women such as Geraldine Ferraro and Marie Wilson of the White House Project presenting. “The Good Body” panel which had to do with issues of body image and sel-esteem was packed with hundreds in the audience. The Leadership Panel which had to do what the overall theme of the conference (Women & Power) was sparsely attended and had less than thirty people in attendance. This contradiction greatly informed the filmmaking of Running in High Heels.
