Organize a "Running" Event
HOW IT WORKS:
If you purchase or have already purchased an institutional version of the DVD of "Running in High Heels" you are entitled to show the film to groups of up to fifty people free at any time. These are the standard PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS extended to educational institutions (and the like) for classroom use.
If you decide to hold a screening in a public auditorium, we recommend that you contact us to receive a username set-up and password access to our art materials and promo guide contained in our Screening Kit. Admission may not be charged for ANY portion of your event unless you contact us at 52 Women and receive specific permission.
IF YOU DO PLAN TO CHARGE ADMISSION:ere
There are two scenarios under which you may charge admission:
1. To hold a benefit screening
2. To hold a regular for-profit screening
If you plan a screening under any admission charging scenarios, please read the information about Public Performance Rights below. We will be happy to work with you in all scenarios to help you arrange an event.
Maryann Breschard, the director of Running in High Heels,
will be on tour at screenings in 2008. If
you would like her to book her for an appearance at your event, please contact us.
AN EXPLANATION OF PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS:
Institutional DVDs include Public Performance Rights which permit the owner/user to view and show the DVD to group of no more than fifty (50) people and provided NO admission is charged. For the purposes of a benefit event, 52 Women will provide you with a Public Performance Waiver License enabling you to screen the film for an audience of up to 250 people and to permit you to charge admission. After the waiver expires, the DVD is yours for your institution's future use. However, after your waiver expires regular Public Performance rules apply and you can only show the film to groups of fewer than 50 people and NO ADMISSION may be charged.
In order for us to provide you with your Public Performance Waiver License, we will need to know the date of your event, the capacity of your venue, the admission you plan to charge, and the organization it will benefit. (If you'd like an organization recommended to you, click here. And if you would like to recommend one to us, contact us.)
If you desire to do a regular for-profit screening, 52 Women must be paid 50% of the gross box receipts or $400, whichever is greater. Contact us for contract information.
