Interesting and Angry Times...
Tuesday, September 02, 2008

The offices of 52 Women have been doing our usual outreach to stay in touch with colleges as this semester gets off to a start. However, a lot of the professors with whom we have been in contact have been off the charts angry about Sarah Palin.

A good portion of those with whom we've spoken have said, "I don't want anything to do with any film that supports Sarah Palin."

The fact is neither 52 Women nor any discussion in "Running in High Heels" supports unqualified candidates in general nor Sarah Palin in particular. What "Running" does explore is the arguments for supporting women and the complications and/or impossibilities that arise of taking such argument all the way to an absolute conclusion.

Specifically, the woman featured in the narrative portion of the film is a young, mostly unqualified candidate and runs a terrible campaign for state senate (an example of what is going on with Sarah Palin today) and is contrasted with the other half of the film which contains interviews about how women benefit from supporting other women and why they should and what happens when they don't. Political support of women is worth discernment and discussion, not black and white. It is what makes this film so darn timely RIGHT NOW!

Anyone with questions should take advantage of the clips available on the left or those available on youtube.
